Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) on the occasion of his arrival in Madinah Munawwarah. He said: I will ask you about three things, only a Prophet can have knowledge about them. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Ask. He said: What is the first sign of the Hour (the narrator is unsure about one word here)? What will the people of Paradise eat first? And what is the thing that draws a child towards his father or his mother (because of which the child resembles the mother or the father)? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Just now Jibreel has informed me about these things. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: Jibreel? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Among the angels, he is a disliked personality in the eyes of the Jews. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The very first sign of the Hour (the narrator is unsure about one word here) will be a fire that will emerge from the east and will gather the people and drive them towards the west. The first thing the people of Paradise will eat will be the extra lobe of the fish’s liver, and the thing that draws a child towards his father or his mother is: when the man’s fluid prevails over the woman’s fluid, the child resembles the father; when the woman’s fluid prevails over the man’s fluid, the child resembles the mother. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I bear witness that there is no deity except Allah and you are the Messenger of Allah. He said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), the Jews are a people who are slanderous; call them and ask them what kind of person I am before they know that I have accepted Islam. Then some people from among the Jews came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) asked them: What kind of person is Abdullah bin Salam? They said: He is our best person and the son of our best person, he is our leader and the son of our leader, he is our greatest scholar and the son of our greatest scholar. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them: What would you say if he accepted Islam? They said: May Allah protect him from that. The narrator says, then Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam came out before them and said: I bear witness that there is no deity except Allah. Then those Jews said: You are our worst person and the son of our worst person. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I was afraid of this very thing.

Hadith 7162
Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik Ashja'i (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) set out and I was with him, until he entered the synagogue of the Jews in Madinah Munawwarah. This was on the day of their festival. They did not like our coming to them. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to them: O group of Jews, show me twelve men who will bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that I am indeed the Messenger of Allah, so Allah will lift the wrath from the Jews under the sky, the wrath which He has placed upon them. The narrator says, but they remained silent and did not give any answer to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) repeated this before them again, but still no one answered him. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) repeated it a third time, but again no one answered him. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: You people do not accept this. By Allah, I am the Hasher, and I am the Aqib, and I am the Muqaffi, whether you believe or deny. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) returned, and I was with him, until when he was about to leave their synagogue, a man from behind us said: O Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), wait. The narrator says: Then that man said: O group of Jews, how do you know me among yourselves? They said: We do not know of any person among us who is more knowledgeable about the Book of Allah than you, or who has more understanding of it than you, nor do we know of anyone before you whose father was more knowledgeable than your father, and before your father, your grandfather was more knowledgeable than your grandfather. So that man said: I swear by the name of Allah regarding these people, I bear witness that this is indeed the Prophet of Allah whom you find mentioned in the Torah. So they said: You are lying. Then they rejected what that man said and spoke ill of him. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: You are lying, your statement will not be accepted. Just a little while ago you praised this man regarding goodness, and now when he has believed, you have declared him a liar and said such things about him, so your statement will not be accepted. The narrator says: When we left from there, we were three people: the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), myself, and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him). So regarding this, Allah the Exalted revealed this verse: "Say: What do you think, if it is from Allah and you have denied it..."
