Hadith 7151
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : أَصَابَنِي جَهْدٌ شَدِيدٌ ، فَلَقِيتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، فَاسْتَقْرَأْتُهُ آيَةً مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ ، فَدَخَلَ دَارَهُ وَفَتَحَهَا عَلَيَّ ، قَالَ : فَمَشَيْتُ غَيْرَ بَعِيدٍ ، فَخَرَرْتُ لِوَجْهِي مِنَ الْجَهْدِ ، فَإِذَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَائِمٌ عَلَى رَأْسِي ، فَقَالَ : " يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ " ، قُلْتُ : لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَسَعْدَيْكَ ، قَالَ : فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِي فَأَقَامَنِي وَعَرَفَ الَّذِي بِي ، فَانْطَلَقَ إِلَى رَحْلِهِ ، فَأَمَرَ لِي بِعُسٍّ مِنْ لَبَنٍ ، فَشَرِبْتُ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " عُدْ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ " ، فَعُدْتُ ، فَشَرِبْتُ حَتَّى اسْتَوَى بَطْنِي وَصَارَ كَالْقِدْحِ ، قَالَ : وَرَأَيْتُ عُمَرَ فَذَكَرْتُ الَّذِي كَانَ مِنْ أَمْرِي ، وَقُلْتُ لَهُ : مَنْ كَانَ أَحَقَّ بِهِ مِنْكَ يَا عُمَرُ ؟ وَاللَّهِ لَقَدِ اسْتَقْرَأْتُكَ الآيَةَ ، وَلأَنَا أَقْرَأُ لَهَا مِنْكَ ، قَالَ عُمَرُ : وَاللَّهِ لأَنْ أَكُونَ أَدْخَلْتُكَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ يَكُونَ لِي حُمْرُ النَّعَمِ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once I was extremely hungry. I met Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab and asked him about a verse from the Book of Allah, the Exalted. He went inside his house and opened the door for me. I had only walked a little when, due to the intensity of hunger, I fell on my face. (When I lifted my head,) I saw that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was standing by my head. He said: O Abu Hurairah. I replied: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I am present. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took my hand and made me stand up. He realized my condition and went towards his residence. He ordered a bowl of milk to be brought for me. I drank it. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Abu Hurairah, drink more. I drank more, then I drank again, until my stomach was full and became like a pot. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Later, I met Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and mentioned my situation to him. I said to him: O Sayyiduna Umar! Who was more deserving than you in this matter? By Allah, I had asked you about the meaning of the verse, even though I knew its meaning better than you. So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: By Allah, if I had taken you to my house at that time, it would have been more beloved to me than if I had received red camels.
