أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ مَرَّ ِحَسَّانَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ َهُوَ يُنْشِدُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ فَالْتَفَتَ حَسَّانُ إِلَى أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : أُنْشِدُكَ اللَّهَ هَلْ سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " أَجِبْ عَنِّي ، اللَّهُمَّ أَيِّدْهُ بِرُوحِ الْقُدُسِ ؟ " ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ .
Saeed bin Musayyib narrates: Once, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by Sayyiduna Hassan bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him), who was reciting poetry in the mosque. He looked towards Sayyiduna Hassan (may Allah be pleased with him), so Sayyiduna Hassan (may Allah be pleased with him) looked towards Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) and said to him: I ask you by Allah, did you hear the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say this: "Respond on my behalf; O Allah! Support him with the Holy Spirit." Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: Yes.
