Hadith 7083
Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The first seven individuals to openly declare Islam were: the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him), his mother Sayyidah Sumayyah (may Allah be pleased with her), Sayyiduna Suhaib (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him). As for the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), Allah Almighty protected him from the evil (of the disbelievers of Makkah) because of his uncle Abu Talib. As for Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), Allah Almighty protected him because of his people. But as for the rest, the polytheists seized them, made them wear iron armor, and left them in the heat of the sun. Each of them did what those people wanted, except for Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), whose case was different because, for the sake of Allah, he considered himself insignificant and for his people, he considered himself insignificant. They seized him and handed him over to the children, so the children would circle around him in the valleys of Makkah, and Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) would say: (Allah is) One, (Allah is) One.
