Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by with Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) was performing prayer at that time. He began reciting Surah An-Nisa and completed its recitation. Whoever wants to recite the Qur'an as it was revealed should recite it according to the recitation of Ibn Umm Abd. Then Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) sat down and began to supplicate. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to say: Ask, you will be given; ask, you will be given. Among the supplications that Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) made were these words: "O Allah! I ask You for such faith that does not turn back, and for such a blessing that does not end, and for companionship with our Prophet in the highest parts of the everlasting Paradise." Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) to give him glad tidings, but he found that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) had already preceded him. So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If you have done so (then it is fine), you are always the one to hasten towards goodness.
