Hadith 7042
أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " مَا كُنَّا نَدْعُوهُ إِِلا زَيْدَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَتَّى نَزَلَ الْقُرْآنُ : ادْعُوهُمْ لآبَائِهِمْ هُوَ أَقْسَطُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ سورة الأحزاب آية 5 " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: We used to call him Sayyiduna Zaid bin Muhammad, until this command of the Qur'an was revealed: "Call them by (the names of) their (real) fathers; that is more just in the sight of Allah."
