أَخْبَرَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ سِنَانٍ الْقَطَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، حَدَّثَنَا وَاقِدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ ، قَالَ : دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَنَسِ ابْنِ مَالِكٍ ، فَقَالَ لِي : مَنْ أَنْتَ ؟ قُلْتُ : أَنَا وَاقِدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ ، قَالَ : إِِنَّكَ بِسَعْدٍ لَشَبِيهٌ ، ثُمَّ بَكَى فَأَكْثَرَ الْبُكَاءَ ، قَالَ : رَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَى سَعْدٍ ، كَانَ مِنْ أَعْظَمِ النَّاسِ وَأَطْوَلِهِمْ ، قَالَ : بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَيْشًا إِِلَى أُكَيْدِرِ دُومَةَ ، " فَأَرْسَلَ إِِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِجُبَّةِ دِيبَاجٍ مَنْسُوجٌ فِيهَا الذَّهَبُ ، فَلَبِسَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " ، فَقَامَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ أَوْ جَلَسَ ، فَلَمْ يَتَكَلَّمْ ، ثُمَّ نَزَلَ ، فَجَعَلَ النَّاسُ يَلْمَسُونَ الْجُبَّةَ ، وَيَنْظُرُونَ إِِلَيْهَا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَتَعْجَبُونَ مِنْهَا ؟ قَالُوا : مَا رَأَيْنَا ثَوْبًا قَطُّ أَحْسَنَ مِنْهُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَمَنَادِيلُ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ أَحْسَنُ مِمَّا تَرَوْنَ " .
Waqid bin Amr narrates: I went to serve Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him). He asked me: Who are you? I said: I am Waqid bin Amr bin Sa’d bin Mu’adh. He said: You resemble Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him), then he began to weep and wept profusely. He said: May Allah have mercy on Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him), he was very heavyset and tall in stature. Then Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) informed: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent an army to Akidar, the ruler of Dumah, so he sent to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a cloak made of silk filled with gold. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wore it and stood on the pulpit (the narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words:) sat on the pulpit, and he did not say anything. Then he descended from the pulpit, and people began to touch that cloak and look at it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Does this please you? The people said: We have never seen a finer garment than this. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The handkerchiefs of Sa’d bin Mu’adh in Paradise are more beautiful than what you are seeing.
