أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ مُجَاشِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ " يُكْثِرُ ذِكْرَ خَدِيجَةَ ، قُلْتُ : لَقَدْ أَخْلَفَكَ اللَّهُ مِنْ عَجُوزٍ مِنْ عَجَائِزِ قُرَيْشٍ حَمْرَاءِ الشِّدْقَيْنِ ، فَتَمَعَّرَ وَجْهُهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَمَعُّرًا مَا كُنْتُ أَرَاهُ مِنْهُ إِِلا عِنْدَ نُزُولِ الْوَحْيِ ، وَإِِذَا رَأَى الْمَخِيلَةَ حَتَّى يَعْلَمَ أَرَحْمَةٌ أَوْ عَذَابٌ " .
Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to mention Lady Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her) frequently. I said: Allah Almighty has granted you other wives after that old woman of the Quraysh with red lips. Upon this, the blessed face of the Prophet (peace be upon him) turned red. I had only seen this state in him at the time of the descent of revelation. If any veiled woman also saw the Prophet (peace be upon him), she would know whether it was due to kindness or due to displeasure.
