Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: During his illness, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I wish that one of my companions were present with me. Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: She said: O Messenger of Allah! Should we call Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) to you? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. We said: (Should we call) Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. We said: (Should we call) Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. We said: (Should we call) Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him)? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes. Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: So we called Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept talking with him, and the color of Sayyiduna Uthman's (may Allah be pleased with him) face kept changing.

A narrator named Abu Sahla narrates: When Sayyiduna Uthman Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him) was confined in the house, Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah took a covenant from me that I would remain patient upon this.

A narrator named Qais says: People think that this referred to that very day.
