Hadith 6897
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : رَأَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ثَوْبًا أَبْيَضَ ، فَقَالَ : أَجَدِيدٌ قَمِيصُكَ أَمْ غَسِيلٌ ؟ فَقَالَ : بَلْ جَدِيدٌ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْبَسْ جَدِيدًا ، وَعِشْ حَمِيدًا ، وَمُتْ شَهِيدًا " ، قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ : وَزَادَ فِيهِ الثَّوْرِيُّ ، عَنْ إِِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ : " وَيُعْطِيكَ اللَّهُ قُرَّةَ الْعَيْنِ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a white garment on Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked: "Is your shirt new or washed?" He replied: "It is new." The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wear new clothes, live a praiseworthy life, and die as a martyr." Imam Abdur Razzaq says: The narrator named Thawri has additionally narrated from Ismail bin Abu Khalid these words: "May Allah grant you the coolness of the eyes in this world and the Hereafter."
