Hadith 6883
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، مِنْ كِتَابِهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُقْبَةَ السَّدُوسِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ خِرَاشٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْعَوَّامُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " لَمَّا أَسْلَمَ عُمَرُ ، أَتَى جِبْرِيلُ صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا مُحَمَّدُ ، لَقَدِ اسْتَبْشَرَ أَهْلُ السَّمَاءِ بِإِِسْلامِ عُمَرَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates: When Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) accepted Islam, Sayyiduna Jibreel (peace be upon him) came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the inhabitants of the heavens (angels) are rejoicing at Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) accepting Islam.
