Hadith 6881
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُعَرِّفٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَارِجَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ نَافِعًا ، يَذْكُرُ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اللَّهُمَّ أَعِزَّ الدِّينَ بِأَحَبِّ هَذَيْنِ الرَّجُلَيْنِ إِِلَيْكَ : بِأَبِي جَهْلِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ أَوْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ " ، فَكَانَ أَحَبُّهُمَا إِِلَيْهِ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) made a supplication: "O Allah, honor Islam through the one who is more beloved to You of these two men—Abu Jahl bin Hisham or Umar bin Khattab." (The narrator says:) So, the one who was more beloved to Allah among the two was Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him).
