Hadith 6864
أَخْبَرَنَا إِِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ الطَّرَسُوسِيُّ ، وَعُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا حَامِدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ أبيه ، قَالَ : كَانَ اسْمُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُثْمَانَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنْتَ عَتِيقُ اللَّهِ مِنَ النَّارِ " ، فَسُمِّيَ عَتِيقًا .
Aamir bin Abdullah bin Zubair narrates from his father (Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair, may Allah be pleased with them both): The name of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) was Abdullah bin Uthman. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "You are a person freed from Hell by Allah Almighty." Because of this, he was named Atiq (i.e., the freed one).
