Hadith 6829
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ زُهَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمِقْدَامِ الْعِجْلِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِيَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، أَنَّ أَبَا رَافِعٍ ، حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " يَحْفِرُونَ فِي كُلِّ يَوْمٍ حَتَّى يَكَادُوا أَنْ يَرَوْا شُعَاعَ الشَّمْسِ ، فَيَقُولُونَ : نَرْجِعُ إِِلَيْهِ غَدًا ، فَيَرْجِعُونَ وَهُوَ أَشَدُّ مَا كَانَ ، حَتَّى إِِذَا بَلَغَتْ مُدَّتُهُمْ وَأَرَادَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَبْعَثَهُمْ عَلَى النَّاسِ ، قَالُوا : نَرْجِعُ إِِلَيْهِ غَدًا إِِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ ، فَيَرْجِعُونَ إِِلَيْهِ كَهَيْئَةِ مَا تَرَكُوهُ ، فَيَحْفِرُونَهُ ، فَيَخْرُجُونَ عَلَى النَّاسِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : فَيَفِرُّ النَّاسُ مِنْهُمْ إِِلَى حُصُونِهِمْ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Those people dig every day, until when they see the rays of the sun (that the sun is about to set), they say: Tomorrow we will return to it again, then they go back, so the (wall) becomes even stronger than before. Until when their appointed time is fulfilled and Allah intends to send them upon the people, they will say: If Allah wills, tomorrow we will return to it. Then when they return to it, it will be in the same state as they left it, so they will dig it and come out upon the people. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: So the people, out of fear of them, will flee towards their forts."
