Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I will tell you something that I heard from the truthful and trusted Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): Sayyiduna Abu al-Qasim, the truthful and trusted (peace and blessings be upon him), told us this: The Dajjal, who will bring misguidance, will appear from the east at a time of people's discord, and within forty days, as much as Allah wills, he will reach that part of the earth. Allah knows best about its extent. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this twice. Then Allah, the Exalted, will send down Sayyiduna Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him); he will lead those people (i.e., the Muslims) in prayer. When he raises his head from bowing, he will say: Allah has heard the praise of the one who praised Him. Then Allah, the Exalted, will have the Dajjal killed and will grant dominance to the believers. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) In this narration, it is mentioned that he will lead them in prayer. By this, it is meant: he will order them to lead the prayer, because sometimes the Arabs attribute the action to the one who gives the command, just as they attribute it to the one who performs the action, as we have mentioned in other places in our books.
