أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِِبْرَاهِيمَ الْحَنْظَلِيُّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ إِِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ " مَعَ الدَّجَّالِ جِبَالُ الْخُبْزِ ، وَأَنْهَارُ الْمَاءِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : هُوَ أَهْوَنُ عَلَى اللَّهِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ " ، قَالَ الْمُغِيرَةُ : فَكُنْتُ مِنْ أَكْثَرِ النَّاسِ سُؤَالا عَنْهُ ، فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَيْسَ بِالَّذِي يَضُرُّكَ " ، قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : إِِنْكَارُ الْمُصْطَفَى صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْمُغِيرَةِ بِأَنَّ مَعَ الدَّجَّالِ أَنْهَارُ الْمَاءِ لَيْسَ يُضَادُّ خَبَرَ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الَّذِي ذَكَرْنَاهُ ، لأَنَّهُ أَهْوَنُ عَلَى اللَّهِ مِنْ أَنْ يَكُونَ مَعَهُ نَهْرُ الْمَاءِ يَجْرِي ، وَالَّذِي مَعَهُ يُرَى أَنَّهُ مَاءٌ وَلا مَاءَ ، مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يَكُونَ بَيْنَهُمَا تَضَادٌّ .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) informed us about the Dajjal. Among what he told us about him was that the Dajjal will come, and it will be forbidden for him to enter any path of Madinah Munawwarah. A man will go out to him; he will be the best man on that day (the narrator is unsure, perhaps these are the words) or one of the best people among the people. He will say: I bear witness that you are the same Dajjal about whom the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) informed us. So the Dajjal will say: What do you people think, if I kill him and then bring him back to life, will you have any doubt about this matter? The people will reply: No. So the Dajjal will be given power over this man; he will kill him and then bring him back to life. When he is brought back to life, he will say: By Allah! I have more insight about you now than I had before. Then the Dajjal will intend to kill this man again, but he will not be able to overpower him.
The narrator named Mu'ammar says: People believe that the man whom the Dajjal will kill and then bring back to life is Sayyiduna Khidr (peace be upon him).
