Ibn Hibban

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) met Ibn Sayyad, and with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) were Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). The narrator says: Ibn Sayyad was at that time (playing) with the boys. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked him: Do you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah? He (Ibn Sayyad) asked: Do you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: I believe in Allah and His (true and real) Messengers. The narrator says: Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked: What do you see? He replied: I see a throne upon water. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: You are seeing the throne of Iblis upon the sea. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked: Examine what you see. He replied: I see some truthful people and some liars. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: His matter has become confused. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) left him.
