Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once the Angel of Rain sought permission from his Lord to visit the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Lord granted him permission. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was that day at the house of Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her). The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said (to Sayyidah Umm Salamah): Take care of the door, let no one enter. So Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) was still at the door when, in the meantime, Sayyiduna Imam Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him), who was a child, came, opened the door, and entered. He began to climb onto the blessed back of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) began to embrace him and kiss him. The angel asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): Do you love him? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Yes. The angel said: But your Ummah will martyr him. If you wish, I can show you the place where he will be martyred. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Alright. So the angel took a handful of soil from the place where Sayyiduna Imam Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) was to be martyred and showed it to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The angel brought soft (i.e., fine) soil (the narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words) or brought red soil. Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) took that soil and kept it in her garment.
