Hadith 6596
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When the last moments of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) approached, there were some people present in the house, among whom was Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) as well. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: I will write something for you, after which you will never go astray. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The pain has overwhelmed the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and you have the Qur'an with you; the Book of Allah is sufficient for us. So, there arose a disagreement among the people present in the house regarding this, and they began to argue among themselves. When their voices and conversation increased in the presence of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: You people, get up.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to say: It was a great calamity that the disagreement and noise of the people came between the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his writing.
