أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : سَحَرَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَهُودِيٌّ مِنْ بَنِي زُرَيْقٍ ، يُقَالُ لَهُ : لَبِيدُ بْنُ الأَعْصَمِ ، حَتَّى كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُخَيَّلُ إِِلَيْهِ أَنَّهُ يَفْعَلُ الشَّيْءَ وَمَا يَفْعَلُهُ ، حَتَّى إِِذَا كَانَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ أَوْ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ ، دَعَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ دَعَا ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " يَا عَائِشَةُ ، أَشَعُرْتِ أَنَّ اللَّهَ جَلَّ وَعَلا قَدْ أَفْتَانِي فِيمَا اسْتَفْتَيْتُهُ ؟ قَدْ جَاءَنِي رَجُلانِ ، فَجَلَسَ أَحَدُهُمَا عِنْدَ رَأْسِي ، وَجَلَسَ الآخَرُ عِنْدَ رِجْلَيَّ ، فَقَالَ الَّذِي عِنْدَ رِجْلَيَّ لِلَّذِي عِنْدَ رَأْسِي : مَا وَجَعُ الرَّجُلِ ؟ قَالَ : مَطْبُوبٌ ، قَالَ : وَمَنْ طَبَّهُ ؟ قَالَ : لَبِيدُ بْنُ الأَعْصَمِ ، قَالَ : فِي أَيِّ شَيْءٍ ؟ قَالَ : فِي مُشْطٍ وَمُشَاطَةٍ وَجُفِّ طَلْعَةِ ذَكَرٍ ، قَالَ : وَأَيْنَ هُوَ ؟ قَالَ : فِي بِئْرِ ذِي ذَرْوَانَ " ، قَالَ : فَأَتَاهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي أُنَاسٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ ، فَقَالَ : " يَا عَائِشَةُ ، فَكَأَنَّ مَاءَهَا نُقَاعَةُ الْحِنَّاءِ ، وَلَكَأَنَّ نَخْلَهَا رُؤوسُ الشَّيَاطِينِ " ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَهَلا أَحْرَقْتَهُ أَوْ أَخْرَجْتَهُ ؟ قَالَ : " أَمَّا أَنَا ، فَقَدْ عَافَانِيَ اللَّهُ ، وَكَرِهْتُ أَنْ أُثِيرَ عَلَى النَّاسِ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا " ، فَأَمَرَ بِهَا فَدُفِنَتْ .
Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Magic was done on the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). A Jewish man from the tribe of Banu Zuraiq performed magic on him. The name of this man was Labeed bin A'sam, to the extent that the Prophet (peace be upon him) would feel as if he had done something, even though he had not done it. This condition persisted for some time, then one day the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: O Aisha! Do you know, the thing I asked Allah Almighty about, Allah has informed me about it. Two angels came to me. One of them sat near my head and the other sat near my feet. One of them asked the other: What is wrong with this man? The other replied: He has been affected by magic. The first asked: Who has done magic on him? The other replied: Labeed bin A'sam. The first asked: In what thing? The other replied: In a comb and the hair stuck in the comb, and in the spathe of a male date-palm. The first asked: Where is it? The other replied: It is in the well of Dharwan.
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) went there with some of his companions. (Upon returning) the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: O Aisha! The water of that well was as if henna had been mixed in it, and the tops of the date-palm trees there were like the heads of devils. I said: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! Why did you not have it taken out? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Allah Almighty has granted me well-being, so I did not like to cause any trouble among the Muslims regarding this matter.
