Hadith 6565
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِِبْرَاهِيمَ مَوْلَى ثَقِيفٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ الْجَرْجَرائيُّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ جُنْدُبًا الْبَجَلِيَّ ، يَقُولُ : " أَبْطَأَ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ : قَدْ وُدِّعَ ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ : مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَى سورة الضحى آية 3 " .
Sayyiduna Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) became ill. He was not able to stand (for prayer) for one or two nights (i.e., he did not come out). Then a woman came to him and said, "O Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), I think your devil has left you." So regarding this, the following verse was revealed: "By the morning brightness, and by the night when it covers with darkness, your Lord has not forsaken you, nor has He detested you."
