Sayyiduna Yazid bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were present at the place where dates are dried. There a man came whose hair was disheveled. In his hand was a piece of leather. We said to him: You seem to be a villager. He replied: Yes. We said to him: Hand over to us this piece of leather that is in your hand. We obtained it from him and read the writing in it, and it was written in it: "(This letter is) from Allah's Messenger, Sayyiduna Muhammad, to Banu Zuhair. You people must pay the khums from the spoils of war, and pay the specific and special share of the Prophet (peace be upon him). You will remain in safety according to the protection of Allah and His Messenger." The narrator says: We asked (that villager): Who wrote this letter for you? He replied: Allah's Messenger. We asked: Have you also heard anything from the Prophet (peace be upon him) directly? He replied: Yes, I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) say: "Fasting in the month of patience (i.e., the month of Ramadan) and fasting three days in every month removes the anger (or malice) from the hearts." We asked this man: Did you yourself hear this from the Prophet (peace be upon him)? He said: I did not expect that you people would accuse me of lying. By Allah! Now I will not narrate any hadith to you. Then that man went away.

(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) That man was Namir bin Tawlab, who was a poet.
