Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I set out with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to participate in a battle. My camel became slow, so I lagged behind the people. (On the way, at some place) the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) dismounted from his ride, struck my camel with his stick, and then said to me, "Mount it." When I mounted it, I saw myself restraining the camel from overtaking the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, "Have you married?" I replied, "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, "To a virgin or a previously married woman?" I replied, "Rather, to a previously married woman." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Why did you not marry a virgin so that you could play with her and she could play with you?" I replied, "I have sisters. I liked to marry a woman who would look after them, comb their hair, and supervise them." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Now you are about to return (to your home). When you go, show wisdom, show wisdom." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Will you sell your camel?" I replied, "Yes." So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) bought it from me for one uqiyah. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) reached (Madina Munawwara) before me. I arrived the next day. I came to the mosque and found the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) at the door of the mosque. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, "Have you come now?" I replied, "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Leave your camel and go inside (the mosque) and offer two rak‘ahs." The narrator says: I went inside, offered the prayer, and when I returned, he instructed Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) to weigh and give me one uqiyah. The narrator says: Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) weighed and gave it to me, and made my side of the scale heavier. The narrator says: When I left from there and turned away, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Call Jabir to me." I was called, and I guessed that now the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would return the camel to me. This was the most disliked thing to me, but the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "The camel is yours and the price is also yours."
