Hadith 6505
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْجُعْفِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَيَّانَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ ، فَأَقْبَلَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ ، فَلَمَّا دَنَا مِنْهُ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَيْنَ تُرِيدُ ؟ " ، قَالَ : إِِلَى أَهْلِي ، قَالَ : " هَلْ لَكَ إِِلَى خَيْرٍ ؟ " ، قَالَ : مَا هُوَ ؟ ، قَالَ : " تَشَهَّدُ أَنْ لا إِِلَهَ إِِلا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لا شَرِيكَ لَهُ ، وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ " ، قَالَ : هَلْ مِنْ شَاهِدٍ عَلَى مَا تَقُولُ ؟ ، قَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " هَذِهِ السَّمُرَةُ " ، فَدَعَاهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهِيَ بِشَاطِئِ الْوَادِي ، فَأَقْبَلَتْ تَخُدُّ الأَرْضَ خَدًّا حَتَّى كَانَتْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ ، فَاسْتَشْهَدَهَا ثَلاثًا ، فَشَهِدَتْ أَنَّهُ كَمَا قَالَ ، ثُمَّ رَجَعَتْ إِِلَى مَنْبَتِهَا ، وَرَجَعَ الأَعْرَابِيُّ إِِلَى قَوْمِهِ ، وَقَالَ : إِِنْ يَتَّبِعُونِي أَتَيْتُكَ بِهِمْ ، وَإِِلا رَجَعْتُ إِِلَيْكَ ، فَكُنْتُ مَعَكَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: We were on a journey with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). A Bedouin came; when he approached the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the Prophet asked: Where are you going? He replied: To my family. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Are you interested in any goodness? He replied: What is that? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: That you bear witness that there is no deity except Allah, He is One, He has no partner, and indeed Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is His servant and His Messenger. He asked: Is there any witness to what you are saying? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: This acacia tree. Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) called the tree. It was at the edge of the valley, so it tore through the ground and came to stand before the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). It recited the testimony of faith three times and bore witness that it is exactly as the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) has stated. Then it returned to the place where it had grown. When the Bedouin was about to return to his people, he said: If these people accept what I say, I will bring them to you; otherwise, I will return to you myself and stay with you.
