Hadith 6487
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمَخْزُومِيُّ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " كَانَ رَجُلٌ يُسْلِفُ النَّاسَ فِي بَنِي إِِسْرَائِيلَ ، فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ ، فَقَالَ : يَا فُلانُ ، أَسْلِفْنِي سِتَّ مِائَةِ دِينَارٍ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، إِِنْ أَتَيْتَنِي بِوَكِيلٍ ، قَالَ : اللَّهُ وَكِيلِي ، فَقَالَ : سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ ، نَعَمْ ، قَدْ قَبِلْتُ اللَّهَ وَكِيلا ، فَأَعْطَاهُ سِتَّ مِائَةِ دِينَارٍ ، وَضَرَبَ لَهُ أَجَلًَا ، فَرَكِبَ الْبَحْرَ بِالْمَالِ لِيَتَّجِرَ فيهِ ، وَقَدَّرَ اللَّهُ أَنْ حَلَّ الأَجَلُ ، وَارْتَجَّ الْبَحْرُ بَيْنَهُمَا ، وَجَعَلَ رَبُّ الْمَالِ يَأْتِي السَّاحِلَ يَسْأَلُ عَنْهُ ، فَيَقُولُ الَّذِي يَسْأَلُهُمْ عَنْهُ : تَرَكْنَاهُ بِمَوْضِعِ كَذَا وَكَذَا ، فَيَقُولُ رَبُّ الْمَالِ : اللَّهُمَّ اخْلُفْنِي فِي فُلانٍ بِمَا أَعْطَيْتُهُ بِكَ ، قَالَ : وَيَنْطَلِقُ الَّذِي عَلَيْهِ الْمَالُ ، فَيَنْحَتُ خَشَبَةً ، وَيَجْعَلُ الْمَالَ فِي جَوْفِهَا ، ثُمَّ كَتَبَ صَحِيفَةً : مِنْ فُلانٍ إِِلَى فُلانٍ ، إِِنِّي دَفَعْتُ مَالَكَ إِِلَى وَكِيلِي ، ثُمَّ سَدَّ عَلَى فَمِ الْخَشَبَةِ ، فَرَمَى بِهَا فِي عُرْضِ الْبَحْرِ ، فَجَعَلَ يَهْوِي بِهَا حَتَّى رَمَى بِهَا إِِلَى السَّاحِلِ ، وَيَذْهَبُ رَبُّ الْمَالِ إِِلَى السَّاحِلِ ، فَيَسْأَلُ ، فَيَجِدُ الْخَشَبَةَ ، فَحَمَلَهَا ، فَذَهَبَ بِهَا إِِلَى أَهْلِهِ ، وَقَالَ : أَوْقِدُوا بِهَذِهِ ، فَكَسَرُوهَا ، فَانْتَثَرَتِ الدَّنَانِيرُ وَالصَّحِيفَةُ ، فَأَخَذَهَا ، فَقَرَأَهَا ، فَعَرَفَ ، وَتَقَدَّمَ الآخَرُ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَبُّ الْمَالِ : مَالِي ، فَقَالَ : قَدْ دَفَعْتُ مَالِي إِِلَى وَكِيلِي ، إِِلَى مُوَكَّلٍ بِي ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : أَوْفَانِي وَكِيلُكَ " ، قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنَا يَكْثُرُ مِرَاؤُنَا وَلَغَظُنَا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَنَا أَيُّهُمَا آمَنُ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "There was a man among the Children of Israel who used to lend money to people. Once, a man came to him and said: O so-and-so, lend me 600 dinars. He said: Alright. If you bring me a guarantor (I will do so). He said: Allah Almighty is my guarantor. The man said: Subhan Allah, alright. I accept Allah Almighty as a guarantor. The man gave him 600 dinars, and they agreed upon a period. Then the other man boarded a ship with the wealth to trade with it. Allah Almighty had decreed that the specified period would pass, and it did, but the sea was a barrier between the two men. The owner of the wealth would come to the shore and inquire about him. When he asked people about the other man, they would say: We left him at such and such a place. So the owner of the wealth would say: O Allah, You are my guardian in the matter of that man. I gave him that thing on Your guarantee. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: The man who owed the money went, took a piece of wood, placed the wealth inside it, then wrote a note stating: This wealth is from so-and-so to so-and-so. I am entrusting your wealth to my guarantor. Then he sealed the mouth of the wood and threw it into the sea. The wood floated in the sea until it reached the shore. The owner of the wealth came to the shore to inquire about it. There he found the piece of wood, picked it up, and took it home. When he split the wood, he found the dinars and the letter inside. The man took the letter and read it, and realized (that this was indeed his money). Then the other man also arrived. The owner of the wealth asked him about his money. The other man said: I entrusted my wealth to my agent, whom I had made my guarantor. The first man said: Your agent has paid me in full." Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I remember about myself, we were present with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when there was a lot of commotion about which of the two men was more trustworthy.
