Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement from Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him): One day, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the Fajr prayer in the morning, then he sat down. When the time for Duha (forenoon) came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled, then he remained seated in his place until he performed the Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha prayers. During this time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not speak to anyone, until he had performed the Isha prayer, then he went to his house. The people said to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him): Ask the Messenger of Allah what is the matter, today he has adopted such a manner that he has never done before. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about this, so he said: Yes, all those things that will come ahead in terms of this world and the Hereafter were presented before me. All the first and last people will be gathered in one field, until they will go to Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him). Those people will be drowning in sweat, they will say: O Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him), you are the ancestor of mankind. Allah Almighty chose you. Intercede for us with your Lord. So Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) will say: I am also facing the same situation as you are facing. You people go to your next father after your first father (i.e., go to Sayyiduna Nuh (peace be upon him) because the command of Allah Almighty is): "Indeed, Allah chose Adam and Nuh and the family of Ibrahim and the family of Imran above the worlds."

So the people will go to Sayyiduna Nuh (peace be upon him) and say: Intercede for us with your Lord, because Allah Almighty chose you. He accepted your supplication, so much so that there was no disbeliever left on earth. So Sayyiduna Nuh (peace be upon him) will say: I cannot do this. You people go to Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) because Allah Almighty made him His friend (Khalil). So the people will come to Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him), and he will say: I cannot do this. You people go to Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) because Allah Almighty honored him with His speech. Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) will say: I cannot do this. You people go to Sayyiduna Isa bin Maryam (peace be upon him) because he used to cure the born blind and the leper. He used to bring the dead back to life. Sayyiduna Isa (peace be upon him) will also say: I cannot do this. You people go to the one who is the leader of all the children of Adam. On the Day of Resurrection, the earth will be split open first for him. You people go to Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) so that he may intercede for you with your Lord.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: Those people will come (to me). I will go to Jibril. Jibril will go to his Lord, so Allah Almighty will say: Give him (the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him) permission and give him the glad tidings of Paradise.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him) will take the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) along. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) will go into prostration, which will last about a week, then Allah Almighty will say: O Muhammad, raise your head, speak and you will be heard, intercede and your intercession will be accepted. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) will raise his head, and when he sees his Lord, he will again go into prostration, which will last a full week. Allah Almighty will say: O Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), raise your head, speak and you will be heard, intercede and your intercession will be accepted. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) will again go into prostration, so Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him) will hold the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) by his side. At that time, Allah Almighty will inspire the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with words of supplication, which He has never inspired to any human before. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) will say: O my Lord! You have made me the leader of all the children of Adam. I am not saying this out of pride. On the Day of Resurrection, the earth will be split open first for me. I am not saying this out of pride, until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) will come to the Hawd (Pond) of Kawthar on the Day of Resurrection. It is larger than the area between Sana’a and Aylah. Then it will be said: Call the Siddiq (truthful one) so that he may intercede, then it will be said: Call the Prophets, so a Prophet will come, with some people with him, a Prophet will come with five or six people with him, a Prophet will come with no one with him, then it will be said: Call the martyrs so that they may intercede for whomever they wish. When the martyrs have done so, Allah Almighty will say: I am the Most Merciful of those who show mercy. Admit into My Paradise every person who did not associate anyone with Me, so the people will enter Paradise. Then Allah Almighty will say: Look into Hell, is there anyone there who ever did any good? So the angels will find a person in Hell. He will be asked: Did you ever do any good? He will say: No, but I used to deal gently with people when buying and selling. Allah Almighty will say: Be gentle with My servant as he was gentle with My servants. Then another person will be taken out of Hell. He will be asked: Did you ever do any good? He will reply: No, but I instructed my children that when I die, burn me in fire and then crush me until I become like kohl (powder), then scatter me in the river and let the wind carry me away. So Allah Almighty will ask: Why did you do this? He will say: Out of fear of You. So Allah Almighty will say: Look at the greatest kingdom, you are given as much as it and ten times more. The servant will say: Are You mocking me while You are the King? (The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said) At this I laughed at the time of Duha (forenoon).

The narrator named Ishaq says: This is the best hadith. This narration has been transmitted by several individuals from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a similar manner, among whom are Sayyiduna Hudhayfah, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud, Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with them), and others.

This same narration is also transmitted with another chain of narration.
