Hadith 6457
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلْمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ سُلَيْمِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ ، وأبي اليمان الهوزني ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيِّ ، أَنَّ يَزِيدَ بْنَ الأَخْنَسِ السُّلَمِيَّ ، قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا سَعَةُ حَوْضِكَ ؟ ، قَالَ : " كَمَا بَيْنَ عَدْنٍ إِِلَى عَمَّانَ ، وَأَنَّ فِيهِ مَثْعَبَيْنِ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ وَفِضَّةٍ " ، قَالَ : فَمَا حَوْضُكَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " أَشَدُّ بَيَاضًا مِنَ اللَّبَنِ ، وَأَحْلَى مَذَاقَةً مِنَ الْعَسَلِ ، وَأَطْيَبُ رَائِحَةً مِنَ الْمِسْكِ ، مَنْ شَرِبَ مِنْهُ لَمْ يَظْمَأْ أَبَدًا ، وَلَمْ يَسْوَدْ وَجْهُهُ أَبَدًا " ، قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فِي هَذَا الْخَبَرِ : " مَثْعَبَانِ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ وَفِضَّةٍ " ، وَفِي خَبَرِ ثَوْبَانَ الَّذِي ذَكَرْنَا : " مِيزَابَانِ أَحَدُهُمَا دُرٌّ وَالآخَرُ ذَهَبٌ " ، وَلَيْسَ بَيْنَهُمَا تَضَادٌّ ، لأَنَّ أَحَدَ الْمَثْعَبَيْنِ يَكُونُ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ، وَالآخَرُ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ قَدْ رُكِّبَ عَلَيْهِ الدُّرُّ حَتَّى لا يَكُونَ بَيْنَهَا تَضَادٌّ .
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Yazid bin Akhnas (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! What is the width of your Hawd (cistern)? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: As much as the distance between Aden and Oman, and it has two spouts, made of gold and silver. He asked: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! What will be the drink of your Hawd like? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: It will be whiter than milk, sweeter than honey in taste, and its fragrance will be purer than musk. Whoever drinks from it will never feel thirsty again, and his face will never become dark.
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) In this narration, it is mentioned that its two spouts are made of gold and silver, whereas in the narration we mentioned from Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him), it is mentioned that its two spouts are made, one of pearl and one of gold. So, there is no contradiction between these two narrations, because one of the two spouts will be made of gold, and as for the other, it is possible that it is made of silver and adorned with pearls. In this way, there remains no contradiction between the two narrations.
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) In this narration, it is mentioned that its two spouts are made of gold and silver, whereas in the narration we mentioned from Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him), it is mentioned that its two spouts are made, one of pearl and one of gold. So, there is no contradiction between these two narrations, because one of the two spouts will be made of gold, and as for the other, it is possible that it is made of silver and adorned with pearls. In this way, there remains no contradiction between the two narrations.
