Hadith 6432
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ هُوَ ابْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، وَذَكَرَ ابْنُ سَلْمٍ آخَرَ مَعَهُ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ شِمَاسَةَ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ ، يَقُولُ : صَلَّيْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا ، فَأَطَالَ الْقِيَامَ ، وَكَانَ إِِذَا صَلَّى لَنَا خَفَّفَ ، ثُمَّ لا نَسْمَعُ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ يَقُولُ : " رَبِّ وَأَنَا فِيهِمْ " ، ثُمَّ رَأَيْتُهُ أَهْوَى بِيَدِهِ لِيَتَنَاوَلَ شَيْئًا ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ ، ثُمَّ أَسْرَعَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ ، فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَلَسَ وَجَلَسْنَا حَوْلَهُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " قَدْ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّهُ رَاعَكُمْ طُولُ صَلاتِي وَقِيَامِي " ، قُلْنَا : أَجَلْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَسَمِعْنَاكَ تَقُولُ : " رَبِّ وَأَنَا فِيهِمْ " ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ ، مَا مِنْ شَيْءٍ وُعِدْتُمُوهُ فِي الآخِرَةِ إِِلا قَدْ عُرِضَ عَلَيَّ فِي مَقَامِي هَذَا ، حَتَّى لَقَدْ عُرِضَتْ عَلَيَّ النَّارُ ، فَأَقْبَلَ إِِلَيَّ مِنْهَا شَيْءٌ حَتَّى دَنَا بِمَكَانِي هَذَا ، فَخَشِيتُ أَنْ تَغْشَاكُمْ ، فَقُلْتُ : رَبِّ وَأَنَا فِيهِمْ ، فَصَرَفَهَا عَنْكُمْ ، فَأَدْبَرَتْ قِطَعًا كَأَنَّهَا الزَّرَابِيُّ ، فَنَظَرْتُ إِِلَيْهَا نَظْرَةً ، فَرَأَيْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ حُرْثَانَ أَخَا بَنِي غِفَارٍ مُتَّكِئًا فِي جَهَنَّمَ عَلَى قَوْسِهِ ، وَإِِذَا فِيهَا الْحِمْيَرِيَّةُ صَاحِبَةُ الْقِطَّةِ الَّتِي رَبَطَتْهَا ، فَلا هِيَ أَطْعَمَتْهَا وَلا هِيَ أَرْسَلْتَهَا " .
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: One day we performed prayer behind the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood for a long time, although when he used to lead us in prayer, he would keep it brief. We only heard him saying: "O my Lord, I am also among them." Then we saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) extend his blessed hand forward as if to grasp something, then he went into bowing (ruku‘). After that, he performed the prayer quickly. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer with salam, he sat down, and we also sat around him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I know that the length of my prayer and standing made you anxious." We said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) — we heard you saying: 'O my Lord, I am among them.'" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Him in Whose hand is my soul, whatever has been promised to you regarding the Hereafter was presented before me during my standing at this place, until even Hell was presented before me. A part of it came towards me, until it came close to this place of mine, so I feared that it might engulf you, so I said: 'O my Lord, I am among these people.' Allah turned it away from you, then its parts turned away like carpets. I looked towards it and saw Amr bin Harithan from the tribe of Ghifar leaning on his bow in Hell. And there was also a woman from Himyar in Hell who was the owner of a cat. She had tied up the cat, neither giving it anything to eat nor letting it go free."
