Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Every one of you has been assigned a companion from among the jinn." The people asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! Even you?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Even me, but Allah Almighty helped me against him and he became a Muslim, so now he only tells me to do good."
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) In this narration, there is evidence that the specific shaitan assigned to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) became a Muslim, to the extent that he would only tell him to do good. This does not mean that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was protected from the shaitan even if that shaitan had remained a disbeliever.
