Hadith 6413
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدُ بْنُ مُسَرْهَدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : وَاصَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الصِّيَامِ ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّاسَ ، فَوَاصَلُوا ، فَنَهَاهُمْ ، وَقَالَ : " إِِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدِكُمْ ، إِِنِّي أَبِيتُ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) began to observe continuous fasting (Saum Wisal). When people came to know of this, they also started to observe continuous fasting. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade them from doing so. He said: I am not like you. I spend the night in such a state that my Lord gives me food and drink.
