Hadith 6407
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِِنَّمَا مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُ الأَنْبِيَاءِ قَبْلِي كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ بَنَى بُنْيَانًَا أَحْسَنَهُ وَأَجْمَلَهُ وَأَكْمَلَهُ ، فَجَعَلَ النَّاسُ يُطِيفُونَ بِهِ ، فَيَقُولُونَ : مَا رَأَيْنَا أَحْسَنَ مِنْ هَذَا إِِلا مَوْضِعَ ذِي اللَّبِنَةِ ، قَالَ : فَكُنْتُ أَنَا تِلْكَ اللَّبِنَةَ " .
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "The example of me and the prophets before me is like a person who built a building, making it beautiful, excellent, and complete. People walk around it and say: 'We have never seen a building more beautiful than this,' but there is a place of one brick left. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: I am that brick."
