Hadith 6406
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " أَنَا أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِابْنِ مَرْيَمَ ، الأَنْبِيَاءُ أَوْلادُ عَلاتٍ ، وَلَيْسَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ نَبِيٌّ " . قَالَ : فَكَانَ قَالَ : فَكَانَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُ الأَنْبِيَاءِ كَمَثَلِ قَصْرٍ أُحْسِنَ بُنْيَانُهُ ، وَتُرِكَ مِنْهُ مَوْضِعُ لَبِنَةٍ فَطَافَ بِهِ نُظَّارٌ ، فَتَعَجَّبُوا مِنْ حُسْنِ بُنْيَانِهِ إِِلا مَوْضِعَ تِلْكَ اللَّبِنَةِ ، لا يَعِيبُونَ غَيْرَهَا ، فَكُنْتُ أَنَا مَوْضِعَ تِلْكَ اللَّبِنَةِ ، خُتِمَ بِيَ الرُّسُلُ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates: I heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "Among the people, I am the closest to the son of Maryam. All the Prophets are paternal brothers, but there is no Prophet between me and him."
The narrator says: Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, also used to narrate: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The example of me and the other Prophets is like a building which has been beautifully constructed, but a place for one brick has been left. People walk around it and are amazed at its excellent construction, but are surprised at the empty place of that one brick, and they do not find any other flaw in the building except that. So I am that place of the one brick; through me, the series of Messengers (being sent) has been completed."
