Hadith 6362
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، عَنِ الْمُبَارَكِ بْنِ فَضَالَةَ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ عَلَى سَرِيرٍ وَهُوَ مُرْمَلٌ بِشَرِيطٍ ، قَالَ : فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ نَاسٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ ، وَدَخَلَ عُمَرُ ، فَانْحَرَفَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَإِِذَا الشَّرِيطُ قَدْ أَثَّرَ بِجَنْبِهِ ، فَبَكَى عُمَرُ ، وَقَالَ : وَاللَّهِ إِِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ أَكْرَمُ عَلَى اللَّهِ مِنْ كِسْرَى وَقَيْصَرَ ، وَهُمَا يَعِيثَانِ فِيمَا يَعِيثَانِ فِيهِ ، قَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَمَا تَرْضَى أَنْ تَكُونَ لَهُمَا الدُّنْيَا وَلَنَا الآخِرَةُ ؟ " ، قَالَ : بَلَى ، قَالَ : فَسَكَتَ .
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was resting on a bed made of date-palm fiber rope. The narrator states: During this time, some of his companions came to him, and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) also entered. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned to his side, the marks of the rope were visible on his side. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) began to weep and said: By Allah! We know that you are more honored in the sight of Allah than Kisra and Caesar, yet both of them are living lives of luxury. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Are you not pleased that these things are for them in this world and for us in the Hereafter? Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Yes. The narrator says: Then he remained silent.
