Hadith 6297
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ " شَمِطَ مُقَدَّمُ رَأْسِهِ وَلِحْيَتُهُ ، وَإِِذَا ادَّهَنَ وَمُشِّطْنَ لَمْ يَتَبَيَّنْ ، وَإِِذَا شَعِثَ رَأَيْتُهُ ، وَكَانَ كَثِيرَ الشَّعْرِ وَاللِّحْيَةِ " ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ : وَجْهُهُ مِثْلُ السَّيْفِ ؟ ، قَالَ : " لا ، كَانَ مِثْلَ الشَّمْسِ وَالْقَمَرِ الْمُسْتَدِيرِ ، قَالَ : فَرَأَيْتُ خَاتِمَهُ عِنْدَ كَتِفِهِ مِثْلَ بَيْضَةِ النَّعَامَةِ يُشْبِهُ جَسَدَهُ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: There were some white hairs at the front of the head and in the blessed beard of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When he applied oil and combed, they were not visible, but when his hair was dry, they could be seen. The hair of his head and beard was very thick. A person asked whether his face was like a sword (i.e., shining). He replied: No, it was like the sun and round, like the (full moon of the) fourteenth night (i.e., shining). The narrator states: I saw the Seal of Prophethood near his shoulder, which was like the egg of an ostrich and resembled the blessed body.
