Hadith 6213
أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَيْسَ الْخَبَرُ كَالْمُعَايَنَةِ ، قَالَ اللَّهُ لِمُوسَى : إِِنَّ قَوْمَكَ صَنَعُوا كَذَا وَكَذَا ، فَلَمَّا يُبَالِ ، فَلَمَّا عَايَنَ ، أَلْقَى الأَلْوَاحَ " ، قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : أَبُو بِشْرٍ : جَعْفَرُ بْنُ أَبِي وَحْشِيَّةَ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "What is heard is not like what is seen directly. Allah Almighty said to Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him): Your people have done such and such, but he did not pay much attention. However, when he saw it with his own eyes, he threw down the tablets." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The narrator named Abu Bishr is Ja'far bin Abu Wahshiyyah.
