Hadith 6209
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْقُرَشِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا خَلادٌ الصَّفَّارُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ قَيْسٍ الْمُلائِيِّ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : أُنْزِلَ الْقُرْآنُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَتَلا عَلَيْهِمْ زَمَانًا ، فَقَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، لَوْ قَصَصْتَ عَلَيْنَا ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ : الر تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ سورة يوسف آية 1 إِِلَى قَوْلِهِ : نَحْنُ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ أَحْسَنَ الْقَصَصِ سورة يوسف آية 3 ، " فَتَلاهَا عَلَيْهِمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ زَمَانًَا ، فَقَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، لَوْ حَدَّثْتَنَا ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ : اللَّهُ نَزَّلَ أَحْسَنَ الْحَدِيثِ كِتَابًا مُتَشَابِهًا سورة الزمر آية 23 ، كُلُّ ذَلِكَ يُؤْمَرُونَ بِالْقُرْآنِ " ، قَالَ خَلادٌ : " وَزَادَ فِيهِ حِينَ قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، ذَكِّرْنَا ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ : أَلَمْ يَأْنِ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنْ تَخْشَعَ قُلُوبُهُمْ لِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ سورة الحديد آية 16 " .
Mus'ab bin Sa'd narrates from his father that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to receive the Qur'an, and for a long time he recited it before the people. The people said: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! If you would relate some stories to us (it would be a kindness). So Allah the Exalted revealed this verse: «الر تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ» The verse continues: "We relate to you the best of stories." The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) recited this verse before the people for a long time. Then the people said: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! If you would tell us something (it would be a kindness). So Allah the Exalted revealed this verse: Allah has sent down the best statement as a Book, consistent in its parts. So all were commanded according to the Qur'an.
The narrator named Khallad has added these words in his narration: When the people said: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! Advise us, so Allah the Exalted revealed this verse: Has the time not come for the hearts of those who believe to be humbled to the remembrance of Allah?
