Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If the one who came to call Sayyiduna Yusuf (peace be upon him) had come to me, I would have gone with him. Sayyiduna Yusuf (peace be upon him) said to him: 'Go back to your master and ask him what became of those women who cut their hands.' May Allah have mercy on Sayyiduna Lut (peace be upon him); he intended to take refuge in a strong shelter when he said to his people: 'If I had strength to resist you, it would be fine, otherwise I would take refuge in a strong shelter.' After that, Allah Almighty sent every prophet to his specific nation.
(Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The words of the narration, 'I would have gone with the caller,' have been literally conveyed, but what is meant by this is to praise the personality about whom the words of the narration have occurred.
