Command to bathe if afflicted by another Muslim’s envy
Hadith 6107
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ صَاعِقَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا وهَيْبٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْعَيْنُ حَقٌّ ، وَلَوْ كَانَ شَيْءٌ سَابِقَ الْقَدَرِ لَسَبَقَتْهُ الْعَيْنُ ، وَإِذَا اسْتُغْسِلْتُمْ فَاغْسِلُوا " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The evil eye is real. If anything could change destiny, the evil eye would change it. And when you are asked to perform ghusl (ritual washing), then perform ghusl (i.e., do so to remove the effects of the evil eye)."
Hadith 6108
حَدَّثَنَاهُ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ خِرَاشٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وهَيْبٌ ، مِثْلَهُ .
This narration is also transmitted with another chain of narration.
