Reason for the prohibition of this act
Hadith 6088
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ الْخَزَّازُ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ ، أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَفِي عَضُدِهِ حَلَقَةٌ مِنْ صُفْرٍ ، فَقَالَ : " مَا هَذِهِ ؟ " قَالَ : مِنَ الْوَاهِنَةِ ؟ قَالَ : أَيَسُرُّكَ أَنْ تُوكَلَ إِلَيْهَا ؟ ! انْبِذْهَا عَنْكَ " .
Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: He came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and he was wearing a brass bracelet on his wrist. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, "What is this for?" He replied, "Because of weakness." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Do you like that you be entrusted to it? Take it off."
