Warning against cauterizing the body for newly occurring illnesses
Hadith 6081
أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ مُجَاشِعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَلادٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْهُجَيْمِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ ، قَالَ : " نَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْكَيِّ فَاكْتَوَيْنَا ، فَمَا أَفْلَحْنَا وَلا أَنْجَحْنَا " .
Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade us from cauterization (branding with fire as a treatment). We got ourselves cauterized, but we neither attained success nor achieved prosperity.
Hadith 6082
أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ الْجُمَحِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الأَحْوَصِ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " جَاءَ نَاسٌ ، فَسَأَلُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ صَاحِبٍ لَهُمْ أَنْ يَكْوُوهُ ، فَسَكَتَ ، ثُمَّ سَأَلُوهُ ثَلاثًا : فَسَكَتَ ، وَكَرِهَ ذَلِكَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Some people came and asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) about their companion whom they wanted to cauterize. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. They asked about this three times, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. He did not like it.
