Hadith 6065
أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْعَطَّارُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، سَمِعَ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنَ وَائِلٍ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّهُمْ أَتَوُا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمَ يُقَالُ لَهُ سُوَيْدُ بْنُ طَارِقٍ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّا نَصْنَعُ الْخَمْرَ ، فَنَهَاهُ عَنْهَا ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّمَا نَتَدَاوَى بِهَا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَيْسَتْ بِدَوَاءٍ ، إِنَّهَا دَاءٌ " .
Alqamah bin Wa'il narrates from his father that some people came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). A man named Suwaid bin Tariq from the tribe of Khath'am stood before the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: "We make alcohol." The Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade him from doing so. He said: "We use it as medicine." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "It is not a medicine, it is a disease."
