Section on Distant Relatives - Refuting those who deny inheritance for distant relatives
Hadith 6035
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْحَوْضِيُّ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ بُدَيْلِ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ رَاشِدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَامِرٍ الْهَوْزَنِيِّ ، عَنِ الْمِقْدَامِ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنْ تَرَكَ كَلا فَإِلَيْنَا ، وَمَنْ تَرَكَ مَالًا فَلِوَرَثَتِهِ ، وَأَنَا وَارِثُ مَنْ لا وَارِثَ لَهُ ، أَعْقِلُ عَنْهُ ، وَأَرِثُهُ ، وَالْخَالُ وَارِثُ مَنْ لا وَارِثَ لَهُ ، يَعْقِلُ عَنْهُ وَيَرِثُهُ " .
Sayyiduna Miqdam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever leaves behind a burden, he should come to us, and whoever leaves behind wealth, it will go to his heirs. I am his heir for the one who has no heir; I will pay his blood money and I will also become his heir. And for the one who has no heir, the maternal uncle becomes his heir; he will pay his blood money and also become his heir."
