Hadith 5988
أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى الزَّمِنُ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ ، يَقُولُ : حَدَّثَنَا جُنْدُبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ فِي هَذَا الْمَسْجِدِ فَمَا نَسِينَا مِنْهُ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَلا نَخْشَى أَنْ يَكُونَ كَذَبَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : خَرَجَ بِرَجُلٍ خُرَّاجٌ مِمَّنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ ، فَأَخَذَ سِكِّينًا فَوْجَأَ بِهَا ، فَمَا رَقَأَ الدَّمُ عَنْهُ حَتَّى مَاتَ ، فَقَالَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى : " عَبْدِي بَادَرَنِي بِنَفْسِهِ ، حَرَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ " .
Hasan al-Basri narrates: Sayyiduna Jundub bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated a hadith in this mosque. We have not forgotten any part of this hadith. He narrated the hadith to us, and we have no fear that he would have narrated anything incorrectly from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). He informed us that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "In the times before you, a man developed a sore." Due to the severity of the pain, he took a knife and cut it. His blood did not stop, until the man died. Allah the Exalted said: My servant tried to outpace Me regarding his own self, so I have made Paradise forbidden for him.
