Hadith 5950
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنِ الْعَلاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كَيْفَ أَنْتَ يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ ، إِذَا بَقِيتَ فِي حُثَالَةٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ ؟ " قَالَ : وَذَاكَ مَا هُمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " ذَاكَ إِذَا مَرَجَتْ أَمَانَاتُهُمْ وَعُهُودُهُمْ ، وَصَارُوا هَكَذَا وَشَبَّكَ بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِهِ " ، قَالَ : فَكَيْفَ بِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " تَعْمَلُ مَا تَعْرِفُ ، وَدَعْ مَا تُنْكِرُ ، وَتَعْمَلُ بِخَاصَّةِ نَفْسِكَ ، وَتَدَعُ عَوَامَّ النَّاسِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Abdullah, what will be your condition when you will be among the dregs of the people? He said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Who will these people be? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: This situation will arise when their trusts and their covenants will become like this. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) interlaced his fingers. He said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! What should I do at that time? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do what you consider to be good, and leave what you consider to be evil, and act for your own self, and leave the people to their own state.
