Chapter on Tribulations – The reason why angels curse those who do this
Hadith 5945
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قَحْطَبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، وَيُونُسَ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنِ الأَحْنَفِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا الْتَقَى الْمُسْلِمَانِ ، فَقَتَلَ أَحَدُهُمَا صَاحِبَهُ فَهُمَا فِي النَّارِ " ، وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ : وَوَجَدْتُهُ فِي مَوْضِعٍ آخَرَ ، وَالْمُعَلَّى بْنُ زِيَادٍ .
Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When two Muslims confront each other and one of them kills the other, then both will go to Hell." The narrator named Ahmad bin Abduh says: I have found elsewhere that the narrator's name is Mu'alla bin Ziyad.
