Hadith 5856
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ السَّبَّاقِ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَتْنِي مَيْمُونَةُ ، زَوْجُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَصْبَحَ يَوْمًا وَاجِمًا ، قَالَتْ مَيْمُونَةُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، اسْتَنْكَرْتُ هَيْئَتَكَ مُنْذُ الْيَوْمِ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ كَانَ وَعَدَنِي أَنْ يَلْقَانِيَ اللَّيْلَةَ فَلَمْ يَلْقَنِي ، أَمَا وَاللَّهِ مَا أَخْلَفَنِي ، قَالَ : فَظَلَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَهُ ذَلِكَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ ، ثُمَّ وَقَعَ فِي نَفْسِهِ جِرْوُ كَلْبٍ تَحْتَ فُسْطَاطٍ لَهُ ، فَأَمَرَ بِهِ فَأُخْرِجَ ، ثُمَّ أَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ مَاءً ، فَنَضَحَ مَكَانَهُ ، فَلَمَّا أَمْسَى لَقِيَهُ جِبْرِيلُ ، فَقَالَ : قَدْ كُنْتَ وَعَدْتَنِي أَنْ تَلْقَانِيَ الْبَارِحَةَ ، قَالَ : أَجَلْ ، وَلَكِنَّا لا نَدْخُلُ بَيْتًا فِيهِ كَلْبٌ ، وَلا صُورَةٌ " . قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : هَذَا هُوَ عُبَيْدُ بْنُ السَّبَّاقِ .
Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The noble wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him), Lady Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), told me this: One day, the Prophet (peace be upon him) was worried. Lady Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! Today your mood does not seem right. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Jibreel had promised me that he would meet me last night, but he did not meet me. By Allah, he does not break his promise with me. The narrator says: The Prophet (peace be upon him) spent the whole day in this state. Then the thought of the puppy under his bed came to his mind. By his order, it was taken out. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) took water in his blessed hand and sprinkled it on that place. When evening came, Jibreel (peace be upon him) came to meet the Prophet (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: You had promised me that you would come to meet me last night. So Jibreel (peace be upon him) said: Yes, but we (angels) do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture.
