Chapter on Images and Image-makers – The Prophet cursed those who make images
Hadith 5852
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَوْنُ بْنُ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ أَبِيَ اشْتَرَى حَجَّامًا ، فَأَتَى بِمَحَاجِمِهِ فَكُسِرَتْ ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ : أن رسول اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " نَهَى عَنْ ثَمَنِ الدَّمِ ، وَثَمَنِ الْكَلْبِ ، وَكَسْبِ الْبَغِيِّ ، وَلَعَنَ الْوَاشِمَةَ ، وَالْمُسْتَوْشِمَةَ ، وَآكِلَ الرِّبَا وَمُوكِلَهُ ، وَلَعَنَ الْمُصَوِّرَ " .
Aun bin Abu Juhaifah narrates: I saw my father, he bought a slave who performed cupping. He brought his cupping instruments, so they were broken. I asked him about this, and he told me: Indeed, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) forbade the price of blood (i.e., the earnings from cupping), the price of a dog, and the income of a prostitute (from being used). And the Prophet (peace be upon him) cursed the woman who tattoos and the woman who gets tattooed, the one who consumes usury and the one who gives it, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) cursed the image-maker.
