Hadith 5829
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ أَبِي السَّفَرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ كُرَيْبًا ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ اسْمُ جُوَيْرِيَةَ بِنْتِ الْحَارِثِ بَرَّةَ ، فَسَمَّاهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جُوَيْرِيَةَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates: The name of Sayyidah Juwayriyyah bint Harith (may Allah be pleased with her) was previously Barrah, so the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) named her Juwayriyyah.
