Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saw an orphan girl at the house of Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her). Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) is the mother of Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "You have white hair." (Then he prayed:) "May Allah not make your braid white." Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! You have made this supplication for my orphan girl, that Allah may not make her braid white. By Allah! It will never turn white." The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Umm Sulaym! Do you not know that I have made a covenant with my Lord that for any individual of my Ummah for whom I make a supplication of harm, and he is not deserving of it, then Allah will make that supplication a means of purification for him and a means of nearness to Allah on the Day of Resurrection."
