Hadith 5734
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الطَّالَقَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ خُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ سُلَيْمَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَوْسَطَ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " عَلَيْكُمْ بِالصِّدْقِ ، فَإِنَّهُ مَعَ الْبِرِّ وَهُمَا فِي الْجَنَّةِ ، وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْكَذِبَ ، فَإِنَّهُ مَعَ الْفُجُورِ ، وَهُمَا فِي النَّارِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is obligatory upon you to adopt truthfulness because it is accompanied by righteousness, and both of these will be in Paradise. And it is obligatory upon you to avoid lying because it is accompanied by sins, and both of these will be in Hell.
